Beiersdorf Chronicle
Chapters from the history of the Hamburg-based global corporation
Thorsten Finke and Daniel Wallburg, who are both in charge of the Beiersdorf archive, wanted to develop a format that would allow employees around the world to learn about the company's history, chapter by chapter.
We created a 20-page booklet as a space in which a wide variety of stories are told using historical photos, product illustrations, advertisements, and documents. Original objects are photographically staged by Henning Rogge, and moments in history for which there was no photographic material are brought to life through illustrations by Gregory Gilbert-Lodge.
The series now comprises 10 issues. Each issue tells its own story, such as that of the Nivea, Pebecco, Coppertone brands, Beiersdorf’s growth, etc.
We are looking forward to the next reviews.
Beiersdorf Chronicle 01
The series begins the narrative in a small pharmacy in Hamburg. It is here that Paul C. Beiersdorf invents coated plasters in 1882, laying the foundation for the company's success. In the following decades, Beiersdorf develops into a globally successful company with brands such as NIVEA, Eucerin, Hansaplast and Labello.
No yesterday, no today, no tomorrow
Global corporations build their success over decades. People’s trust in their brands is passed on from generation to generation and the future is developed from history. Only those who actively deal with their own history can use it for their own brand in the future.
